I am inspired by metamorphosis in visual imagery. An image evolves in time as the mind processes the visual signal.
The vocabulary used in my work is a refined system of geometry, color, light, and realism. I explore the relationships of differing grid systems; square, triangular, and hexagonal. The grids are sometimes infused with circles which create space —positive and negative— within the image. Although I work with grids for replicating images into paintings, intuition is a key component in my process.
My love of art began with a colored pencil drawing of a gas lantern at the age of six. I earned degrees in fine art from Munson William Proctor Institute of Art and Massachusetts College of Art and show my work in galleries in the region. I am a member of the Vermont snow sculpting team and compete in International competitions including the 2012 National Snow carving Competition where we took first place. I live in Burlington Vermont with my family and paint from my studio on Pine Street.[/fusion_text]
